Kate McKinnon's 'Barbie' character gets her doll debut.
Barbie's parent company Mattel unveiled this week its latest doll that's inspired by Kate McKinnon's character in themovie. Weird Barbie — the doll — takes on McKinnon's likeness and features a choppy haircut, drawings on her face, mismatched clothes, and snakeskin boots.
“Sarah who did the set design was like, 'I've made all these holes in the wall where she can put her real leg in, and then we'll rig the other leg up,” Gerwig said. Despite the popularity of the movie version of Weird Barbie, some fans said that an authentic Weird Barbie has to be made by the doll's owner.
“They should’ve just sold a regular Barbie with all the tools you might need to make her into weird barbie,”
