His whereabouts are unknown.Cespedes"did not reach out to management with any explanation for his absence." The team's attempts to find him have so far been unsuccessful.

Cespedes was not in the Mets lineup after going 0-for-4 in Saturday night's game and not showing any signs of injury. The Cuban-born Cespedes did not play at all last season due to a broken ankle. He had played in eight of the Mets' first nine games this season — all as a designated hitter — batting .161 with two home runs and four RBI.
