Yankees top prospects Austin Wells and Jasson Domínguez are knocking on the door in Triple-A, looking to follow Everson Pereira up to the big leagues soon.

Yankees hitting coordinator Joe Migliaccio added that Pereira has excelled at sticking to a productive process in his work behind the scenes, a sign of his maturity. After all, Pereira is only two years removed from his first full season in the minor leagues, a testament to his ability to accelerate through the system.
The Yankees will enter this offseason with three big-league catchers ahead of Wells. Jose Trevino is expected to be ready for spring training after his season-ending wrist surgery, Kyle Higashioka is the club’s longest-tenured player andThat doesn’t mean Wells won’t be considered for a roster spot as early as the beginning of next season, though.
That fine-tuned approach takes time to build. As Boone noted this week, Wells may be on the Yankees’ radar, but he isn’t a finished product. It’s a good point. The last thing the Yankees should want is to bring Wells to the Bronx just for the sake of promoting him, having him ride the bench and get opportunities sporadically, as has been the case for infielder Oswald Peraza.
In theory, the Yankees could leave both left and center field open for Domínguez and Pereira. Harrison Bader is a free agent after this season and as much as the Bronxville native profiles as a perfect fit, it’ll be a risk to sign him on a long-term deal with his injury history and average offensive production.
Like Pereira, Domínguez has developed a knack for maintaining a constructive routine. It’s also his swing decisions that will be the difference because there are no doubts that he can impact the baseball when he makes contact in the zone.
