Xiaomi announced the new MIUI 14 which is touted to be lighter than ever and has better performance. In addition, 16 devices will initially get it.MIUI 14 marks the 12th year of the OS. MIUI also reached 564 million global monthly active users.
The new MIUI photon engine uses the Android kernel as its operating system and gives third-party application developers access to this functionality. The system is more fluid, its performance under heavy load has significantly improved, and the third-party apps are also smoother. Image and text extraction is touted to be faster and more accurate than Apple's iOS. It can also now do real-time bilingual subtitles for video conferencing and recording. Translations are also praised to be more accurate and kept confidential.
In terms of connectivity, MIUI uses a new high-speed interconnection bus which increases the speed of Bluetooth discovery by 50 percent for TWS earphones, 12 percent for TVs, and 77 percent for video streaming. Xiaomi also touts MIUI 14 as a human-centered OS which means it pays attention to the user's perception and adjusts to its needs.
