JAKARTA:The Indonesian military has retrieved the debris of an army helicopter which went missing last year in the country's easternmost province of Papua, a military officer said on Monday (Feb 10).
The MI-17 Helicopter with 12 people on board lost contact with the airport's air traffic control on June 28 after taking off from the Oksibil airport in the province.
Commander of the Cendrawasih Military Command overseeing the province Maj-Gen Herman Asaribab said that he has seen the wreckage of the army chopper from the air during a flight on Monday. "During the flight with a helicopter this morning, I saw the debris from a 12,500-feet altitude," he said.
