PARÍS (AP) — World Rugby investigará las acusaciones que hizo el jugador inglés Tom Curry, quien aseguró que fue objeto de supuestos comentarios discriminatorios de Mbongeni Mbonambi de Sudáfrica durante la semifinal del Mundial de Rugby.
El organismo rector del deporte indicó el lunes que inició una investigación formal sobre las acusaciones —que de ser probadas— amenazan la participación de Mbonambi en la final del Mundial el domingo ante Nueva Zelanda. “World Rugby se toma las acusaciones de comportamiento discriminatoria muy seriamente”, indicó.
Se puede escuchar a Curry preguntándole a O'Keeffe qué debe hacer después de que le dijeron un comentario racista. “Nada, por favor”, responde O'Keeffe. “Estoy en eso”. Los Springboks indicaron el domingo que “están conscientes de la acusación que se toman muy en serio” y que “revisarán toda la evidencia disponible”. “Hablaremos con Bongi si encontramos que la acusación es substanciada”, dijo SA Rugby.
