Lead economist Richard Record says the country's fundamentals are sound.

World Bank lead economist Richard Record at a presentation in Kuala Lumpur today.

“The World Bank is positive on the measures taken by the new government to strengthen the economy,” he said in a presentation here today. Household spending meanwhile will be buoyed by stable labour market conditions and income support measures such as the Cost of Living Allowance. He added that the external sector may be negatively affected by heightened uncertainty on the global front, brought about by the trade impasse between the US and China.
