The incident occurred today around noon at a worksite on Stevensgate Drive, between Rossland and Westney Roads, said a spokesperson for the Town of Ajax. According to media reports, two people have been transported to hospital, one airlifted to Sunnybrook in Toronto and the other taken to a local hospital.
Ajax Fire and Durham Region Police Service are on the scene and a provincial trench rescue team is on route as is the Ministry of Labour, the spokesperson reported.There is no information on the condition of the two workers that remained trapped in the trench.
