A report by Suburb Trends analysed suburbs across Australia and the jobs people living in these places have which could be at risk of being replaced by technology. New South Wales and Victoria were the most at-risk states with the majority of the top 20 suburbs in Australia's south. The report used two artificial intelligence models including ChatGPT and Bard to formulate the estimates.
"These projections assume widespread successful integration of AI technologies, ongoing technological advancements, and seamless human-machine collaboration," the report said. The first being industries' ability to overcome challenges like workforce training, ethical and privacy issues and the financial implications of artificial intelligence integration. The third is the evolving regulatory environment that allows the shift to using more technology without hindrance.
"However, historical precedents, the adaptability of workers, and government policies could all act to prevent a direct correlation between productivity gains and job losses."The report noted that an increase in productivity gained by using artificial intelligence doesn't necessarily mean people will lose their jobs.
"Changes in job roles, up-skilling of employees, and creation of new roles related to AI and automation are all potential outcomes."Now we're almost at the number one suburb most at risk of job replacement with artificial intelligence.
