Workers doing long hours deserve four-day week: ACTU
says Australia should study the benefits of a four-day work week as part of the push to boost productivity and help workers achieve more balance in their lives.
A four-day week would help workers win back some control, Michele O’Neil said at the National Press Club on Tuesday.“Work is really important for your life, for your dignity, for who you are. But so is your family, so is time to have a life outside of work, so is time for rest. Ms O’Neil said overseas studies had shown four-day weeks had improved productivity, workers’ wellbeing and loyalty to their employer.Earlier this month, a Senate inquiry report urged the Albanese government to review the 38-hour working week and back a trial of a four-day week.
