Woodlands Elite cheerleader shot in Texas H-E-B parking lot returns home after surgery
Washington had been practicing for the Cheerleading Worlds competition, the biggest championship in competitive cheerleading, before she was shot. Shearer said Washington was well enough to walk and watch her teammates via Facetime for both days of the competition Saturday and Sunday.The Woodlands Elite Generals. They won second place in her honor over the weekend."They were devastated but hit two really great routines both days," Shearer said.
With surgery and competitions over, Shearer said it's now time for both Washington and the three other cheerleaders that were in the car to focus on physical and mental recovery. "It's been a very emotional weekend for the girls, having to focus so hard to just get through these routines," Shearer said Monday."None of them have really had a second to process what even happened yet."
Washington, a Stony Point High School senior in Round Rock and future member of Baylor's acrobatics and tumbling program, is set to start physical therapy soon.
