KUALA LUMPUR: The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry together with Prasarana Malaysia Berhad are working together to solve issues affecting persons with disabilities (OKU) at its premises.
Its deputy minister Hannah Yeoh said following a meeting with Prasarana, they found that the three main issues affecting the OKU community are the elevator facilities, the misuse of OKU parking spaces and toilets.
When asked about punitive actions, Yeoh said for now the Ministry was not looking at revoking their OKU card as it also functions as an identification card. Yeoh added that as of April 2019, some 540,986 OKU cards have been registered with the Welfare Department. She added that a disability equality training and disability service training will also be given to Prasarana staff to create more awareness among its staff on OKU issues.
