A woman in Malaysia is speaking out after she was forced to undergo surgery due to a doctor's negligence during an IUCD fitting at a government clinic. Hidayah Salim detailed her harrowing experience on Facebook, claiming the doctor proceeded with the procedure despite knowing her uterus was positioned incorrectly, causing her immense pain and ultimately leading to the IUCD being misplaced.
A woman has expressed her sadness and anger after she had to undergo surgery due to a doctor's negligence at a government clinic . Through a post on Facebook by Hidayah Salim, the woman shared her trauma after the harrowing incident during her Intrauterine Contraceptive Device ( IUCD ) fitting.
“What action should be taken? Consent? Silence? Or what? Just after finishing confinement, I went to the government clinic for contraceptive treatment (IUCD) and it turned into a terrifying tragedy,” she wrote. According to her, the treatment was carried out by medical officers at the clinic. Before the treatment, the doctor conducted a CT scan and found that her uterus was positioned quite backwards and difficult to insert the IUCD. However, the doctor persisted in continuing the IUCD fitting despite the woman repeatedly asking if it was safe. “During the procedure, the doctor himself experienced difficulties, and I felt pain. After the fitting, a CT scan was conducted, revealing that the IUCD was not in the uterus!” The doctor then requested two other doctors to perform another scan, which confirmed that the IUCD was not in its proper place and needed to be removed. “The doctor who fitted the IUCD simply disappeared without a word of apology after the incident. Apparently, the phrase 'IT'S OKAY, LET'S TRY' meant 'HE TRIED TO PLAY WITH MY LIFE.' Another doctor apologized and gave me a letter to refer to the hospital to see a specialist to remove the IUCD. Oh my God! At this time, I was truly mentally down! ” With a previous caesarean section, she was now required to undergo another caesarean to remove the IUCD. This was compounded by the fact that she was fully breastfeeding a two-month-old baby and had planned to circumcise her eldest child during the school holidays. “Alhamdulillah, the surgery was successful, but I have to face the healing process like when I first gave birth through caesarean,” she concluded.
