Quezon City Police District (QCPD) operatives arrested a woman after she allegedly stabbed dead a female merchandiser in Novaliches, Quezon City on Monday, Aug. 7.
Lt. Col. Jerry Castillo, QCPD Novaliches Station commander, identified the suspect as Sheila Ilano, 29, jobless, of Barangay Gulod, Novaliches.
Report showed that Ilano, armed with a 12-inch-long kitchen knife, attacked Jennifer Vergara while the latter was with her sister Josephine Vergara while riding a pedicab along Sta. Barbara Street in Barangay Gulod at around 10 p.m. The suspect then fled towards Quirino Highway. The victim was rushed to the Novaliches General Hospital where she was declared dead-on-arrival from a knife wound in the back.
Vergara’s sister sought help from PS 4 operatives in the area who chased the suspect leading to her arrest. Police seized the suspect’s weapon. Police said they are looking into the possibility that jealousy was what prompted Ilano to attack the victim.
