A Singaporean woman was sentenced to three weeks in jail after attempting to bribe an auxiliary police officer at the Woodlands Checkpoint, mistaking him for Malaysian police. Wang Xiping, 42, offered the officer RM50 and later SGD50 (approximately RM166) after he instructed her to use the correct lane for cars.

An officer noticed the traffic violation and instructed her to turn back and use the correct lane designated for cars.However, the officer rejected both bribes, requested her passport, and informed her that their interaction was being recorded on his body-worn camera.Image via Nuria Ling/TODAY Wang was arrested at 11.30am the same day, and later released on bail
In court, Wang appealed for leniency, explaining that she is responsible for caring for her four children, the youngest being less than a year old.
