An investigation is underway after police found a woman's body on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn early Tuesday in what may have involved a hit and run.

Authorities say the 35-year-old woman was discovered in the eastbound lanes of the roadway near Erskine Street in East New York around 3:20 a.m.

Police said the investigation determined she was operating a 2016 Mercedes GLA 250 SUV, traveling eastbound on the Belt Parkway, when she exited the vehicle.It is unclear how she got out of the SUV, but detectives believe she may have fallen out or been ejected. The victim was then struck by a vehicle while she was in the center lane, and police said that driver did not remain on the scene.There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
