KUALA PILAH: A 34-year-old woman was sentenced to five years in jail after she pleaded guilty on Friday (May 17) at the Sessions Court here to two counts of using counterfeit RM100 bills last September.
Mas Fadila Senin pleaded guilty to the charges after they were read to her by the interpreter before judge Nariman Badruddin.
On the first charge, the mother-of-one was accused of using a fake RM100 bill with the serial number BF 4118883 at 9pm at a shop in Bahau near here on Sept 24 last year. She was slapped with a second charge of using another fake RM100 bill with the serial number CD 9788864 at 3.10pm at a motorcycle workshop, also in Bahau, on the same day.
Mas Fadila, who used to work for a government statutory body, was charged under section 489B of the Penal Code which provides a jail term of up to 20 years and a fine upon conviction. In mitigation, the accused, who was unrepresented, pleaded for leniency as she had to provide for her son who was still in school. Related News
