Wisconsin GovEvers to ban TikTok from state devices
Spokeswoman Britt Cudaback confirmed to NBC 15 that Evers plans to issue an executive order on the matter, likely next week. He said last month that his office was monitoring the situation and weighing whether or not the app should be banned. The move makes Evers the second Democratic governor to join Republicans in pushing for bans of the app, following in the footsteps of Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly , who issued a ban last month.
The recently passed $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill included a ban on TikTok on all most government-issued devices for executive branch employees. A bill passed in December banned the app from House of Representative devices.TikTok has particularly soared in popularity among teenagers, with a recent survey from Piper Sandler finding that 38% rate it as their favorite app. Approximately two-thirds of American teenagers use the app.
