A potent snowstorm is headed from the West to the Northern Plains, and blizzard conditions are on the table for some. Here's the latest:
The winter storm is spreading snow across the Mountain West right now, including some valley areas like the Salt Lake City metro.
Various winter storm warnings, winter storm watches and winter weather advisories also stretch from higher elevations of the Pacific Northwest into the Rockies and Northern Plains.Snow and rain will linger in the Northwest and spread into the Rockies by Monday. Significant snow is expected in the Salt Lake City metro. Snow will begin to develop in parts of the Dakotas, Nebraska and Minnesota on Monday night.Snow will stretch from the Rockies to the northern Great Lakes.
Moisture will surge northward ahead of this system and meet up with cold air to the northwest of the center of low pressure. The air will be cold enough for snow from the upper Mississippi Valley into higher elevations of the West.
