Winter Storm Bankston will spread snow, strong winds from the West into the Plains:
The lion's share of the rain and mountain snow will spread into the southern half of California into Tuesday night.
Local flash flooding is likely, particularly in urban areas most susceptible to flooding. Rockslides are possible and at least some debris flows can be expected, particularly over areas recently burned by wildfires. Typical of strong California storms, snow accumulations in the high country will be measured in feet. Winter storm warnings have been posted by the National Weather Service throughout the Sierra Nevada for the heavy snow.In Southern California, 1 to 2 feet of snow is possible above 7,000 feet. This will make travel treacherous or impossible above those elevations by Tuesday. The Grapevine portion of Interstate 5 could see some snowfall by Tuesday night.
