Winne the Pooh: Blood & Honey 2 will be just as violent as Terrifier 2. 'I want to make sure I go as big and epic as they went with that. I want to try and push it even more.'

The Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey sequel will take inspiration from Terrifier 2 to turn its violence and intensity up to 11. Terrifier 2, which is a sequel to the lesser-seen 2016 slasher Terrifier featuring the mysterious villain Art the Clown, was the surprise hit of 2022, making $14 million off its budget of $250,000 thanks to its reputation as an intense and shocking experience that caused several audience members to pass out.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY In their latest issue, SFX Magazine sat down with Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey director Rhys Frake-Waterfield to discuss the already notorious film. During their conversation, he revealed that the franchises he looked to for inspiration included Halloween, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Wrong Turn.

The main franchises I was thinking of while making this were Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Wrong Turn. I really like Wrong Turn. It’s not as big as the other ones, but the first one is on my little list of horror movies that I love. And as we’re going into the sequel soon, Terrifier 2 is going to be one of my key reference points. I want to make sure I go as big and epic as they went with that. I want to try and push it even more.

Even though Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey hasn't yet earned a single cent at the box office, it has achieved a fair amount of notoriety off the back of its shocking premise. The same notoriety didn't necessarily help last month's Grinch-based horror film The Mean One so there are no guarantees, but this project is even buzzier than that one and has sustained its notoriety over a longer period.

A sequel to Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey will have the door open to other characters from the Hundred Acre Wood that aren't included in the original film, like the iconic and exuberant Tigger. With this ace up its sleeve, it may have the ability to create a Terrifier 2-style expansion on the universe locked down already.
