LIVERMORE -- A car fire that started on eastbound Interstate 580 Saturday in Livermore and ultimately spread to several acres of vegetation has been fully contained, the Alameda County Fire Department said on Sunday.
Fire officials were called shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday to a car fire on I-580 near North Flynn and Carroll Road. Winds caused the fire to spread to 80 acres of vegetation on the Altamont Pass which caused traffic issues. The cause of the fire remains under investigation according to Cal Fire who also responded to assist.
