Roger Stone’s push to relitigate the Mueller probe has made its way to Congress, where Trump’s GOP allies seem ready to do the same
and making the case for why he has had “the most horrible experience you can have” with the U.S. justice system. “I see immediately why 99 percent of the people who choose to plead not guilty and go to trial lose when you’re up against the horrific and deep-pocketed resources of the federal government and these really sadistic arrogant politically motivated prosecutors,” Stone said just seconds into the interview, sounding a bit like one of the president’s tweets.
He described the so-called “biased judge” and “stacked jury” that presided over his trial, accusing Judgeof “[ignoring] all the legal precedents” and being part of a “fixed system.” Stone went on to name Mueller lawyeras “the most ethically bankrupt prosecutor I’ve ever come across” and said that Korean-American prosecutorStone denied the suggestion that he “traded his silence” on Trump “for commutation,” instead claiming thatand his team wanted him to “bear false witness” against the president.
