Police have laid charges after a wild road rage incident in Victoria ended with a car flipping on its side and a man allegedly confronting another driver with a knife.

About 4pm on Wednesday, police received reports that a Holden Astra was allegedly driving"erratically" and tailgating a sedan along the Princes Freeway at Tynong North.

"It’s alleged the Astra rammed the sedan, causing the Astra to roll," police said in a statement on Thursday.Exclusive footage obtained by 7News shows the moment the two cars collided on the Princes Freeway in Victoria. Picture: 7News.After one of the cars flipped on side, two people could be seen approaching each other in the middle of the road. Police said members of the public managed to separate the pair until officers arrived.
