The incident was shared on social media platforms like Facebook Skuad Bencana Jerantut and Jerantut Viral, spreading among the local residents since it was discovered by some river fishermen in the evening.
Azman Yusoff, 54, a local river fisherman, stated that while he was fishing in the area, he noticed what appeared to be a large black rock emerging from the river's surface at around 50 meters away. Upon approaching the object, he was shocked to see the carcass of a wild elephant entangled with a fallen tree in the middle of the river. He managed to free the carcass, which then floated downstream, likely washed away by floodwaters upstream
