Aussie pop star Vanessa Amorosi is suing her mum, Joyleen Robinson, over a long-running property and earnings-related dispute.
2000s pop sensation Vanessa Amorosi and her mother have been embroiled in a bitter dispute over unpaid earnings and property ownership since 2014.The singer, who became emotional several times when giving evidence in the Victorian Supreme Court today, said that her mum “handled all the finances” and that she “signed anything my mum gave me”.
The dispute centres on a number of family trusts, loans and properties that were purchased using royalties and earnings from her career, primarily one in the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Narre Warren. Amorosi and her family subsequently lived in the property, which is owned jointly by her and Ms Robinson, and her mum and stepfather Peter continue to live there.Amorosi rejected suggestions that she had wanted to buy the property as a gift for her mother and Ms Robinson had turned down that offer.
Amorosi is seeking to have the ownership of that property transferred to her solely, or for the court to order its sale.
