An odd-job man from Menglembu, Ipoh in Perak, is appealing to the public for financial assistance to help his sister-in-law who is three months pregnant.

Toh Wah Poon, 38, said his 40-year-old brother Wah Chuan died on Aug 8 from Covid-19, leaving his sister-in-law Lim Wei Tin without any source of income.

Wah Poon said Wah Chuan had worked as a property broker and did a few other jobs while Lim, 40, used to work as an administrator.“My brother lost his job but took on several others while Lim stopped working about three months ago,” Wah Poon said when contacted. He said his sister-in-law, along with 10 members of her family, lived at a flat in Salak South, Kuala Lumpur. His late brother used to live there as well.

“All of them tested positive for Covid-19. Lim’s brother is still being treated in an intensive care unit,” he said, adding that Lim, however, had been discharged. Wah Poon said Lim’s family was not well-off and her two siblings also had their respective families to take care of.“Lim contacted me to ask for help, so I am just trying my best to assist her,” he said, adding that he had reached out to Shan De Charity Home to set up a fundraiser. To donate, WhatsApp 011-1219 2183 or WeChat jennychin5492.
