The upcoming musical movie adaptation of the Broadway show of the same name will be split into two parts. Wicked Part One will release on November 27, 2024. Wicked Part 2 was initially scheduled to release in Christmas 2025. However, it has now been moved up a month to November 26, 2025, a year after the first film just in time for the Thanksgiving weekend.
“In an alternate look at the land of Oz, the true heroine is wrongfully cast as the ‘wicked’ witch and actually turns out to be a freedom fighter who battles against the wizard for her homeland,” reads the film’s synopsis.Cynthia Erivo will play Elphaba, and Ariana Grande will play Glinda. Jonathan Bailey will play Fiyero Tigelaar, Jeff Goldblum will play The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Ethan Slater will play Boq, Michelle Yeoh will play Madame Morrible, and Bowen Yang will play Pfannee.
