Leading law firm Clayton Utz has reversed its neutral stance on the Indigenous Voice under its new CEO.
Mr Cooper said Clayton Utz had adopted a policy on public issues in 2020 that ensured it “stands above political engagement or debate”.“This is a partnership and there may be diverse views on the issues,” he said.Ms Covacevich said the firm’s new position reflected its long-standing commitment to Indigenous Australians.
“We as a firm support the Voice referendum. This support reflects our commitment to closing the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. They were among the firms that signed the 2019 statement, which was hailed by Voice architect Professor Megan Davis as a “really significant development”.
