These layers sit on top of the rapidly expanding and improving large language models like OpenAI ChatGPT or Meta’s LLaMA, and the infrastructure, hardware and chips dominated by big global players.In the May budget, there was $101.

Australia is already significantly behind in the AI arms race. According to Stanford University, there was $US1.35 billion private investment in Australian AI last year, which is a fraction of the US , China , the UK and even the likes of Israel, Canada and Argentina.
