Ten months after Australia fell agonisingly short against the French in Paris, the Wallabies return with a different coach, a very different line-up and an ordinary recent record.

Eddie Jones and the Wallabies have nothing to lose when they take on France in their only World Cup warm-up match on Sunday .

Ten months ago, under former coach Dave Rennie, the Wallabies fell to France 30-29 in Paris in a match few expected them to win.Just four players from that France Test in November will wear the same jersey this Sunday. They are Dave Porecki, Taniela Tupou, Rob Valetini and Lalakai Foketi. There were two catalysts for Rennie’s sacking in January, beyond the fact the Wallabies won just 38 per cent of Tests under the Kiwi.

If Australia won that match, there is a high chance that Rennie would have kept his job and seen out his contract until the end of 2023. RA would have found it difficult to argue the team was going backwards after such an unexpected result. No one could have predicted the significance of that one-point loss in Paris. Two months later, Rennie was told it was all over.

Tupou was brilliant against France last year and has always been highly sought after by Top 14 clubs who love massive tight-head props. This is his time to shine.
