F1: Daniel Ricciardo was all smiles in Nashville as part of a special Red Bull event, as he gears up to race again
Ricciardo ready to race again | 00:55Daniel Ricciardo returns to the cockpit for this weekend’s United States Grand Prix with little on the line but much to prove.
Fully healed, Ricciardo will at last strap himself back into his AlphaTauri AT04 later today to embark on his second comeback of the year. While the yawning chasm to Verstappen stands at 209 points, the gap to Lewis Hamilton behind him in third is only 30 points. Most importantly, the constructors championship has already been won, with Verstappen’s individual points haul 107 points greater than Mercedes’s total.
On race day things improve only marginally. He’s usually finishing 2.89 places behind Verstappen, worse than all bar Sargeant and Stroll , and his 34.2 per cent share of Red Bull Racing’s points is better than only Kevin Magnussen’s 25 per cent and Stroll’s 20.43 per cent among the drivers who have scored this season.
