KOTA KINABALU: State Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Datuk Junz Wong has hit out at the Federal Government for leaving the Sabah government out of a meeting on the movement control order to curb Covid-19 held in Putrajaya Tuesday (March 17).
The Parti Warisan Sabah vice-president questioned the Federal Government on its rationale for omitting the Sabah government from the meeting."The Sabah government closed it's doors to China in February. In fact,"As a result, cases in Sabah were contained. The current spread is the result of the second cluster, which is the result of the failure to contain public gatherings," he said.
Earlier, Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Mohd Zuki Ali had apologised for an error in issuing invitations to the special meeting of Mentris Besar and Chief Ministers on Tuesday. Zuki said Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had directed for all Mentris Besar and Chief Ministers to attend with no exceptions.
He added that Muhyiddin viewed the matter seriously and wanted to work with all states, regardless of political affiliation. "The Prime Minister has issued a directive for all Mentris Besar and Chief Ministers to be invited for future meetings on Covid-19," Zuki said, apologising on behalf of the meeting's secretariat.
