Goodfellas is narrated by both Henry Hill and his wife Karen Hill, and the latter's narration is more important than you might think.
Goodfellas is all about the story of Henry Hill , who also provides a voiceover narration throughout the entire movie, but he’s not the only one, as some parts of the story are narrated by his wife, Karen , and her narration is as important as Henry’s.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Although Henry’s time and work with the mob is the main focus of Goodfellas, the movie also takes time to explore his personal life, from the moment he met Karen on a double-date, to their wedding and the many highs and lows they went through as Henry’s job with the crew got more dangerous.
Some studies of Goodfellas and its visual and narrative elements have suggested that Karen’s narration provides an element of doubt. Henry narrating Goodfellas immediately confirms that he survived everything he went through, but having Karen narrating certain parts can add some uncertainty and even suggest that Karen might have not survived, either .
What Happened To The Real Karen Hill After Goodfellas? Goodfellas ends with Henry, Karen, and their children entering the witness protection program as Henry testifies against Paulie, Jimmy, and others, sending them to prison. Henry and his family relocated after that, but Henry was dissatisfied with a “normal” life.
