Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and her team have structured a 41 count indictment against Trump and 18 advisers. Legal expert Stephen Gillers explains why Willis has taken this approach.
A Georgia grand jury indicted former President Donald Trump and 18 others for trying to subvert the will of voters and overturn his 2020 defeat. This is the fourth indictment against Trump since April, and he's the only former president who has ever been indicted. In this indictment, he's charged with more than a dozen felonies.
GILLERS: Well, the allegations in the indictment are so sweeping, in addition to the RICO allegation. It practically shouts conspiracy. And the effect of charging conspiracy is dramatic. Everyone's statements and acts within the conspiracy is admissible against everyone else.GILLERS: I think there's multiple investigations, multiple grand jury testimony.
