Mamelodi Sundowns made their way to the Netherlands without one of their trusted soldiers in Rushine De Reuck and the reason for that has now been revealed. SLSiya Read more:
De Reuck, who had battled with his fair share of injuries last season, has had to remain behind as the rest of his team ventured into Europe to further their pre-season plans, owing to an injury he sustained.
According to the club’s coach Rulani Mokwena, the 26-year-old, who recently penned a new deal with the club, injured his knee in a pre-season friendly and although the injury required surgery, it was not as bad as initially thought. “It was a very freaky incident at training and it was a pity because he had played the first match of the first friendly [matches] and he had played very, very well. He returned back in very, very good shape, but he landed awkwardly and then felt a very sharp pain in and around the knee.

The surgery went well, he is already home, and the players had him on the phone and we all wished him a speedy recovery. Hopefully he’ll be back in time to still continue and make a great contribution to this season because he has got qualities for sure that make us believe that he can be one of our best centre-backs,” he continued.
