Long-time LawAndOrder star Christopher Meloni shares why he was excited to return as Detective Stabler in the reboot series, Organized Crime: 'The whole thing you just jump into it.”

Christoper Meloni shares why he was ready to return to the Law & Order franchise. The actor starred as Detective Elliot Stabler for 12 seasons of Law & Order: SVU, the first spinoff series to the flagship crime drama. Debuting in 1999 on NBC, Law & Order: SVU follows the New York Police Department's 16th Precinct as it investigates and prosecutes various crimes throughout the city.

Organized Crime premiered in April 2021 on NBC, and follows Stabler's return to the NYPD to investigate a devastating personal loss.

“Well, you know Dick Wolf set the table….you know laid out his vision of what he wanted the show to be. And I signed on for that vision, so I was really charged and clear about what the marching orders were and what we would be making. And that you know inevitably included Benson . So I thought that was interesting and dynamic and tricky and it’s all these things that you want as an actor. And you come back and ahhhh there’s a lot to unpack here. And it was just always great and it was fun….

What Makes Law & Order: Organized Crime Special Stabler's exit from Law & Order: SVU left his story on a more negative than positive note, as he was put on administrative leave by the NYPD's Internal Affairs after being forced to shoot a teenager whose mother was a rape and murder victim. Stabler, often letting his anger and trauma get the best of him, was almost at a breaking point as he let his work bleed into his personal life.

However, Law & Order: Organized Crime has allowed Stabler to redeem himself. He is forced to face his demons and rebuild his life after his worst fear came true: his family became affected by his career.
