Christian Bale explains why Marvel Studios decided to cut his favorite Gorr the God Butcher scene in Taika Waititi's ThorLoveAndThunder.

Christian Bale explains why his favorite bit as Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder was cut by Marvel Studios. The Taika Waititi and Chris Hemsworth MCU film marks the actor's return to the comic book movie world. In the mid-2000s played Bruce Wayne/Batman in Warner Bros.' The Dark Knight Trilogy. Now he portrays a Marvel villain in Gorr the God Butcher.

As his name suggests, Gorr is set out to kill all gods after he suffers a personal tragedy. He blames the higher entities for his misfortunes after they ruthlessly invalidated his grief. Powered by the necrosword, he goes on a quest to fight them off until Thor catches wind of his crusade in Thor: Love and Thunder.

My biggest inspiration for Gorr is a music video and Taika and I did this scream that's in that video but did not see the light of day in that film. So my favorite bit is doing that. So I just kind of screamed through it for 30 seconds straight and Marvel went 'no.' That's not ending up in the final cut but I enjoyed it immensely.

Previously, Bale revealed that he wanted to reference the "Come to Daddy" video by Aphex Twin in Thor: Love and Thunder. He wanted to do the character scream as Gorr, which was a major condition for him to join the project. Waititi agreed, but, ultimately, the bit was cut. It doesn't seem like Bale has ill feelings towards their broken agreement, as he understands why Marvel Studios wouldn't want that in the film.

For what it's worth, Thor: Love and Thunder has a lot of scenes that ended up being scrapped. It's uncertain what those specific bits are aside from Gorr the God Butcher's scream, but it's possible that they eventually end up in the film's home release.
