Was Ahsoka just toying with Shin?

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary Near the end of Ahsoka episode 7, Ahsoka Tano finally clashes with Shin Hati in a brief face-off, yet she curiously doesn’t bother igniting her lightsabers to fight Shin. This isn’t the first time Ahsoka has made a seemingly strange decision while fighting the enemy. For example, during Ahsoka and Baylan Skoll’s lightsaber duel in episode 4 she only fights him with one of her lightsabers instead of both.

Ahsoka’s vast experience in fighting lightsaber opponents allows her to overcome Shin Hati’s Dark Jedi Padawan training. However, it’s worth noting that Shin looks like she wants to continue fighting. Only when Ezra Bridger and Sabine Wren finish dealing with the Death Troopers and arrive at Ahsoka’s side does Shin stand back rethink her strategy.

Ahsoka Knows She's Stronger Than Shin Hati, So Doesn't Need Her Lightsabers One of the main reasons Ahsoka refuses to match Shin’s lightsaber with one of her own is because she doesn’t need to. In the past, Ahsoka has already taken down sabered opponents while being unarmed, such as when she killed the Inquisitor in Tales of the Jedi. Shin is young and inexperienced when it comes to fighting a veteran of the Clone Wars and the Rebellion.

Ahsoka Doesn't Want To Hurt Shin Hati, She Wants To Help Her Ahsoka isn’t necessarily looking to defeat Shin, though. At the close of their brief battle, Ahsoka attempts to help Shin by offering her to join them. Of course, the first thing Ahsoka asks is for Shin to surrender her lightsaber. But she seems genuine in her desire to guide Shin, as she guides Sabine. Moments earlier, Baylan Skoll abruptly ditched Shin in favor of pursuing his own plan on Peridea.

Despite Ahsoka’s genuine offer to help Shin, Shin chooses to run. She wasn’t even able to scratch an unarmed opponent, and knows she will be killed if she continues to fight. However, it will be interesting to see where she flees to in the finale. Baylan has fallen off the grid as he searches for “the beginning” of the cycle he wants to end, and she just blundered Thrawn’s wish to kill Ezra and Sabine.
