Psychologists say struggling new parents are abandoning treatment as they run out of cheaper sessions. The government is being urged to up the number of subsidised sessions to 40.

Ms Lear first saw a psychologist while pregnant and had hoped to overcome the depression before she gave birth. "It was to the point that I was not wanting to go out … but I also felt so trapped being in my own house, and nagging thoughts were creeping up in my chest."I was worrying that I wasn't good enough as a mother or partner … even though I was providing everything that my baby needed."
