Why 2023 is the year of the trophy home SydneyRealEstate SydneyHomes

3. Mainhead, 49 Wunulla Rd, Point PiperAgents: Ray White Double Bay’s Elliott Placks and Allan Fettes, with the Sotheby’s managing director, Michael Pallier.Bought by Laser Clinics Australia co-founder Alistair Champion and his wife, Kate, and on a 1200 sqm block, the home has stunning harbour views and the residents have the choice of either the harbourfront pool or a private beach when they want to take a dip.

The former home of Lynch on a 1300 sqm block had previously traded for $9.05m in 2014 so observers were stunned when it recently sold for a whopping $61.5m to freight boss Arthur Tzaneros.Though the home pictured here was knocked down soon he bought it and a grand home designed by architect Michael Suttor with Thomas Hamel interiors was built in its place.

A nearby apartment, that had cost $1.3m six months ago, was thrown in as part of the deal. The $45m result achieved last year when sold by Michael Pallier of Sotheby’s was applauded as a great price at the time.It was nearly six times the $7.75m purchase price the couple paid in 1997 for what had been the home of the late grocer John David.
