Ethan Chadwick made 23 saves and Marek Schneider scored the game-winner as the Saskatoon Blades defeated the Regina Pats 3-1 Friday in Western Hockey League action.
It was Schneider’s first goal of the season as the Blades improved their record to 34-22-3-1 while officially clinching a playoff spot before 7,523 fans at SaskTel Centre. Egor Sidorov and Tristen Robins also scored for Saskatoon, which outshot Regina by a convincing 44-24 margin. Logan Nijhoff had the lone goal for the Pats who were 1-for-2 on the power play. The Blades went 0-for-4.The Blades return to action Saturday night in Moose Jaw against the Warriors who sit one point ahead in the WHL’s Eastern Conference standings as those two teams continue to jostle for fourth place and home-ice advantage in the opening round of the upcoming playoffs. Saskatoon and Moose Jaw both have eight games remaining in the regular season schedule.
