Women Are Sharing Their Experiences Of Being 'Mom-Bullied' After Whitney Port Shared Her Emotional Account
She said:"I went to an event this morning. It was a panel discussion for lots of moms. I went in with a good attitude, walked out feeling a little bit insecure. There were a lot of moms that I knew. I approached two specifically. We have a lot of friends in common and it was the right thing of me to go up to them and say, 'Hi.
Whitney went on to brand the experience"passive-aggressive bullying," and said it had affected her self-esteem.She said:"There's this passive-aggressive bullying that’s going on. It's not in my face calling me names or stealing my lunch money, it’s 'I’m gonna do the least amount possible to get by without her feeling like I want nothing to do with her.' But I can see right through that.
Breaking down in tears, Whitney added that the fact she was a"new mother" looking to make"lifelong" friendships made the whole experience even harder to deal with.Whitney said:"It’s especially hard when you’re a new mother and you really want to put yourself out there, because this is a time to make lifelong relationships. It hurts to feel like someone doesn’t want to hang out with you, or have a conversation with you, or get to know you. I take it personally.
And Whitney concluded by saying that she needed to work on her own self-esteem and stop internalising the narrative that she's"uncool and awkward."She said:"I have to be more confident and believe what I'm preaching, and know that the reason that these girls aren't being super nice isn't my problem, it's theirs.
Within hours of posting the video, it had racked up over 400,000 views on Instagram and sparked a discussion among thousands of commenters. Many of them told Whitney about their own experiences, saying that she"wasn't alone."
