.GovWhitmer extends lead over TudorDixon: Poll
Whitmer leads Dixon by 17 percentage points in the poll. Among the polled, 49.5% say they will vote for Whitmer, with 32.2% supporting Dixon, 6.1% saying they would back a third party, and 12.3% saying they were undecided about the Michigan contest.The poll was conducted by the Detroit News and WDIV-TV among 600 likely voters via phone from Sept. 26 to Sept. 29. The pollster notes the margin of error is roughly 4 percentage points.
Dixon, who has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump, has trailed in every poll against Whitmer and has lost ground compared to previous surveys. In a poll conducted at the end of August from the same pollster, Dixon trailed Whitmer 48%-35%. This poll was conducted after Trump held a rally in Warren, Michigan, to boost his endorsements, including Dixon. At the Oct. 1 rally, Trump called Whitmer a"wild-eyed extremist."
