DAP's Wong Tack says unless issues revolving around the facility are resolved, Lynas should not be allowed to continue operating. FMTNews WasteDisposal
In February, Lynas’ licence was renewed for another three years till March 2023, with certain conditions.
Wong Tack, a vocal critic of Lynas, claimed the public was still “in the dark” as to where the PDF — meant to manage waste — would be located.“Until today, the people are still in the dark as to where exactly this PDF is located. What happens if the site chosen is not suitable or is unacceptable to the people?” the Bentong MP said in a statement this evening.
But Wong Tack pointed out that the International Atomic Energy Agency , in its 2011 mission report on Lynas, noted that the location for the PDF must be determined first.“Unless all these issues are clearly ironed out, the government should not allow Lynas to generate more radioactive wastes on our land.”
