When their lavish destination wedding scheduled for August 2020 was canceled due to the pandemic, Gianni McLaughlin and his wife, Milly-May McLaughlin, rather than sulk, decided to use the money to pursue a passion project: that of making a film.is an ode to the Italian mob genre — it employs similar techniques and characters. But there’s a twist: the cast is comprised entirely of non-actors. This was intentional and is known as neorealism.
In the end, the duo says that hiring non-actors was the best decision they could have made. After just six weeks of filming that summer of 2020, they had all the footage they needed to put together a film. “My mom would just tell me to Google it and figure it out,” said Gianni. “And it would piss me off in the beginning. But then I started Googling it, and I sat down for three years and started getting good at it.”
