Quintis has sold a 517ha sandalwood plantation near Kununurra to Ron Greentree’s Prime Grain and is preparing to sell another plantation of similar size.

Perth-based Quintis did not respond to a request for comment.

Only 58 per cent of heartwood – the central part of the sandalwood tree where oil accumulates – offered for tender in January by Quintis sold, while an April tender resulted in no sales. The sale of Voyager was noted by valuation firm Herron Todd White in its August monthly property round-up. HTW Darwin director Frank Peacocke wrote that the property was “suitable for a wide range of crops grown in the Ord River Valley”.

Quintis planted three plantations in the ORIA in 2008 – Voyager, Ivanhoe and Rogers. These trees are now due for harvesting ,
