Status updates unfortunately do not have the option for this feature.

According to the report from WABetaInfo, HD images will still be subject to some light compression, but the original dimensions of the photo will be maintained. This means that while the new feature allows for higher quality image sharing, the image shared will not be in its original quality. Similar to how edited messages in WhatsApp are marked with text saying they have been edited, HD images will also have an icon which denotes that it was shared in high quality.Users currently need to be part of the WhatsApp beta to be eligible for the feature’s rollout, with the latest version of the app being 23.11.0.76 on iOS and 2.23.12.13 on Android.
