Whataburger serves one of the best fast-food burgers in the country, according to a recently published list, but not as good as what you can get at McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Five Guys and In-N-Out.
The Double Meat Whataburger — which can be customized with cheese, bacon and grilled jalapeños — was ranked No. 8 by Eat This, Not That! , a website and brand of nutrition books, on the site’s list of the “10 Best Fast-Food Burgers In America.”, but not as good as what you can get at McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Five Guys and In-N-Out.
The ranking noted that the burger’s beef patty measures five inches in diameter and weighs about 2.75 ounces, “which means you’re eating a third of a pound of beef with this double.” It’s enough to make a Texan’s heart swell with pride — until he or she sees that Whataburger was ranked below seven fast-food chains from outside the state.“It’s only right to kick our list off which this classic,” the website says, noting that the burger is more than 50 years old and features fresh beef.“Let’s face it, we are creatures of habit that embrace familiarity,” it says.
The cheeseburger at Five Guys was No. 5 on the list, while the Shack Burger at Shake Shack was No. 6, and The Animal Style Double Double at In-N-Out was No. 7.
