The Buckeyes’ head coach hadn’t talked about his words publicly since that night as the team went into an off week right after that.
As OSU prepares to take Maryland, Day addressed the Holtz situation for what he hopes will be the final time this season. “I’m very proud we’re 2-0 against Notre Dame in the last two years,” Day said. “I’m proud of the way our team played. I’m proud of the grit that they showed. It was an emotional game. I can tell you that the response that I’ve gotten from Buckeye Nation people around Columbus has been remarkable. They just love the passion our team played with on Saturday.”The coaches gave the players time to “clear their minds and their souls” going into the off-week.
